Great Western Railway (GWR) is urging passengers to check their journeys before travelling this weekend, with disruption expected on several routes this Sunday (27 July) due to crew availability issues.

The following routes are likely to see reduced services and potential cancellations:

  • Bristol Temple Meads – Gloucester

  • Bristol Temple Meads – Taunton

  • Westbury – Portsmouth/Weymouth

  • Reading – Gatwick

  • Reading – Basingstoke

Fewer trains will run on these lines, and those that do are expected to be busier than normal. Where possible, limited rail replacement services will be provided to support affected routes.

A GWR spokesperson said: “We’re sorry for the impact this will have on passengers’ journeys. Because of the late-notice changes and the complexity of updating timetable systems, journey planners may not reflect changes correctly before Sunday morning. Please check live updates before travelling.”

Customers who have already purchased tickets but decide not to travel can claim a full refund via GWR.com/refunds (subject to the ticket’s terms and conditions).
