Temporary traffic lights and lane closures will be in place on the A4 London Road between Calne and Chippenham next week as work continues on the Forest Gate solar farm site.

Eden Renewables said additional pre-construction work will take place at the main site entrance on the A4 during the week beginning Monday 16th March.

The work will require temporary traffic lights and periodic lane closures for around three days during the week.

Contractors say they will aim to carry out lane closures during off-peak daytime hours where possible to minimise disruption.

The road will remain open while the work takes place, but motorists have been warned that some delays may occur.

A spokesperson for Eden Renewables said: “The road will remain open, but some delays may occur.

“We apologise for any disruption this may cause and thank you for your patience and understanding while these works are carried out safely and carefully.”

The Forest Gate solar farm project, located north of the A4 east of Chippenham, was approved by Wiltshire Council in 2023.

Once operational, the site is expected to generate enough electricity to power around 13,300 homes, with construction anticipated to take around six to nine months once work begins.
