From road closures and resurfacing works to temporary traffic lights for water repairs, here's a round-up of the planned roadworks due to take place in and around Calne that could affect your journey in the coming weeks.
Stanier Road closure extended
The planned closure of part of Stanier Road for major carriageway works has been extended.
The works, which were originally due to finish on 20th July, are now expected to continue until Friday 7th August.
The closure affects the section of Stanier Road from its junction with the A3102, extending around 75 metres in a south-easterly direction.
A signed diversion remains in place via the A3102, A4, A4361, B4005, Oxford Road and the unaffected section of Stanier Road. Right turns from Stanier Road and Beversbrook Sports Pavilion onto the A3102 also remain prohibited during the works.
Oxford Road, Calne
29th-30th July
Oxford Road will be closed at the junction with North Street and Wood Street while repairs are carried out to a highway defect.
Calstone Wellington Road, Cherhill
Until around 30th July
An emergency closure remains in place on Calstone Wellington Road North, between Moggs Lane and Green Lane, while Wessex Water repairs a burst water main.
Access for residents and businesses will be maintained where possible, and a signed diversion is in place.
New Road, Calne
4th-6th August
Two-way temporary traffic lights will be in operation while Wessex Water repairs a domestic customer leak near number 27.
The Square, Calne
5th-6th August
Two-way temporary traffic lights will be in place opposite number 2 while Wessex Water carries out repairs to a water main.
Silver Street, Calne
6th-7th August
Drivers can expect two-way temporary traffic lights outside Calne Methodist Church while Wessex Water repairs a mains leak.
A4 between Calne and Chippenham
10th-12th August
The biggest planned disruption is expected from Monday 10th August until Wednesday 12th August, when the A4 between Pewsham Roundabout and the A342 junction at Derry Hill will be closed continuously.
Wiltshire Council will be carrying out surface dressing and associated maintenance works, with the closure running from 9.30am on Monday until 3pm on Wednesday.
The closure affects one of the main routes between Calne and Chippenham, so motorists are advised to allow extra time for journeys. Wiltshire Council has also advised there will be no through route for emergency vehicles while the works are taking place.
A signed diversion is expected to be in place, although the route has not yet been published.
