Wiltshire Police are urging residents to remain vigilant following a series of burglaries in which car keys and vehicles have been stolen.

The warning comes after 13 incidents were reported across the north and west of the county in recent weeks, with police also linking similar offences across the border in the Avon and Somerset area.

In the latest incident, a property in Yatton Keynell near Chippenham was broken into during the early hours of Sunday 17th May.

Four sets of car keys and a set of house keys were stolen before three vehicles were taken from the address.

Police say all three vehicles have since been recovered following extensive enquiries.

Detective Constable Thomas Carver said officers are continuing targeted patrols and reviewing CCTV as part of ongoing investigations.

He said: “We’d like to urge residents to be vigilant and to take simple steps to protect their homes and vehicles.

“Ensure all doors and windows are kept locked shut and keys are not kept in easily accessible places, such as bowls or hooks by the front door. Please also consider deterrents such as security lights and sound-activated CCTV.”

Police say they are continuing to work closely with neighbouring forces as they investigate the burglaries.

Anyone with information is asked to call 101 and ask for information to be passed to Central CID.
