A Wiltshire Police officer, DS Gareth Snoad, has been dismissed without notice after a hearing found his behavior amounted to gross misconduct.

The incident occurred on 2nd October, 2024, at a licensed premises in Liverpool, where DS Snoad was arrested and later convicted of being drunk and disorderly in a public place.

The hearing, held on 24th April, 2025, concluded that DS Snoad's actions breached the Standards of Professional Behaviour for police officers, specifically Authority, Respect and Courtesy, and Discreditable Conduct.

As a result, he was dismissed from Wiltshire Police and will be placed on the national barred list, preventing him from working in policing in the future.

Deputy Chief Constable Mark Cooper stated that Wiltshire Police expects the highest standards of professional behavior from its officers and staff, and DS Snoad's actions were unacceptable.

The force will continue to hold officers accountable for behavior that falls short of community expectations. DS Snoad has 10 working days to appeal the outcome.
