A Wiltshire Police staff member has won multiple titles at the Police Sport UK (PSUK) Southern Championships Blue Lights Horse Show.
Financial Investigator Hollie Clark travelled to Chard, Somerset, on Saturday 8th August with her horse Figgy to compete in the annual event.
Hollie was due to compete alongside Wiltshire Police colleague Jasmine Swatton-Andrews, but traffic delays caused by a diversion on the M5 meant Jasmine was unable to reach the venue in time for her classes and had to return home.
Despite the difficult start, Hollie and Figgy had a successful day in the show jumping arena.
The pair were competing for the first time in six weeks after poor weather, ground conditions and Hollie's work and family commitments had prevented her from competing.
Hollie finished:
- 1st place – 90cm
- 2nd place – 1m
- 1st place – 1.10m
- PSUK Show Jumping Champion
- Overall Show Champion
She also joined riders from Devon & Cornwall Police and the Royal Navy to form a mixed services team, which won the Team Show Jumping competition.
Hollie said: “The day certainly had its challenges before we even arrived, but once we got there, Figgy was fantastic. I hadn't competed for more than six weeks, so I was delighted with how he performed.
“To come away with the Show Jumping Champion and Overall Show Champion titles was a brilliant achievement, and it was great to be part of a winning mixed services team too.”
During the event, Hollie also displayed a Thin Blue Line flag as a mark of respect and solidarity with the wider policing family, remembering PC Andrew Harper and acknowledging recent events affecting police officers.
The PSUK competitions give serving police officers and staff the opportunity to compete in a range of sports and represent their forces outside their usual roles.
Hollie's results saw her take home three individual podium finishes, two championship titles and a team victory from the event in Somerset.
