Calne Town Council is asking residents for their views on plans to restore the historic name West Hill Street / West Hill to part of the A4 through the town.
The proposal relates to the section of road historically known as West Hill or West Hill Street, which the council wants Wiltshire Council to consider reinstating as part of an update to the Definitive Map.
The town council says restoring the historic name would recognise Calne's heritage while also providing greater clarity.
The proposal is linked to West Hill House, a Grade II* listed building next to 5 Market Hill. Built around 1705, the property served as a GP surgery for 42 years under Dr Alastair James (1897–1978).

Residents are now being invited to take part in a poll and have their say on whether the section of the A4 should once again be known as West Hill Street / West Hill.
