Calne Junior Parkrun will celebrate its 200th event this weekend after years of helping hundreds of local children get active.
The free weekly event, held every Sunday morning at Calne Recreation Ground, will mark the milestone on Sunday 7th June with Mayor Tim Havenith attending celebrations, saying a few words and handing out finish tokens to participants.
The mayor is also one of the event's regular volunteers.
Junior parkrun is a free, timed 2km event for children aged between four and 14, with children not required to run - walking, hopping and skipping are all welcome too.
Since launching, 773 different children have taken part in Calne, completing a total of 5,857 finishes.
The event regularly welcomes visitors from outside the area and has continued growing, with around 40 to 50 children now often taking part each week.
Over the years, 251 different volunteers have helped run the event, including around 30 young people completing Duke of Edinburgh volunteering.
Volunteers say the nearby Ninja Park has also encouraged more families to attend, while many parents now run alongside their children as part of their own fitness journeys.
The weekly event takes place every Sunday at 9am at Calne Recreation Ground, with participants asked to arrive from around 8.50am.
New volunteers are always welcome and can help as often or as little as they like.
