Around 30 people gathered in Calne on Thursday evening to remember Shayne Hambakachere and show their support for his family.
The vigil, held opposite Zion Chapel in Phelps Parade, brought members of the community together in a quiet moment of reflection following the teenager’s tragic death.

Organised by Lucy Holt, the evening saw candles and lanterns lit in Shayne’s memory, with flowers laid as those attending shared memories and stood together in support of those closest to him.
Reverend Caspar Bush led prayers for Shayne’s family and friends, while local musician Braydon-Lee played music during the gathering. Members of the Chippenham Neighbourhood Policing Team were also present.

Although Shayne’s father had hoped to attend, he was unable to be there on the night, however, Lucy Holt confirmed that photographs and videos from the vigil have been sent to Shayne’s parents, and that the candles, flowers and messages left during the evening will be taken to the family.

Lucy said she would like to thank everyone who attended, as well as Rev Caspar Bush and Braydon-Lee for helping make the evening possible.

Detectives continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding Shayne’s death. Anyone with information is urged to contact police via the Major Incident Public Portal or anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
