Police have issued a formal warning to a man following further reports of concerning behaviour in Castlefields Park, Calne.

On Monday (2nd March), police received a report that a student from Kingsbury Green Academy was left distressed after being approached by the individual.

Calne Neighbourhood Police Team confirmed they had previously spoken to the man following concerns raised by members of the public earlier this year. However, officers say their advice was not taken on board.

On Tuesday (3rd March), PCSO Mark Cook attended Castlefields Park and issued the individual with a formal warning in an effort to address the behaviour and prevent any further distress.

Police have not reported any criminal offences in connection with the incidents.

Concerns about behaviour in Castlefields Park were first raised in January, when officers reassured parents after children reported an uncomfortable interaction with an unknown adult in the same area. At that time, police confirmed no crime had been committed but said advice had been given.

PCSO Cook said officers will continue to monitor the situation and urged parents and carers to speak to children about personal safety.

“We would always advise everyone, especially children, not to approach or engage with strangers,” he said.

Police have advised that if children feel uncomfortable or encounter problems while walking through parks or open spaces, they should contact a parent or guardian immediately. In an emergency, call 999. Non-emergencies can be reported via 101.
