Changes have been announced to ongoing roadworks in Calne town centre following complaints from motorists about long delays and disruption.
The works, being carried out by Wiltshire Council, have seen temporary multi-way traffic lights installed along the A4 at Curzon Street and Market Hill as part of a wider scheme to upgrade ageing signals and pedestrian crossings.

Since work began at the end of March, drivers have reported lengthy queues and slow-moving traffic through the town, with concerns also raised by local businesses.
Wiltshire Police were called over the weekend after reports of motorists ignoring temporary traffic lights, with four drivers issued fines and penalty points.
Councillor Sam Pearce-Kearney said adjustments to the works had now been agreed with the council’s network permits team following feedback from residents.
Phase one of the project will continue in its current form and is expected to be completed by around 17th April.
Some changes have been made to upcoming work to reduce disruption. On New Road, work scheduled between 7th and 9th April will now take place overnight. On Silver Street, planned works on 14 April will go ahead but with reduced hours between 9.30am and 3pm to avoid peak traffic times and the school run.
An explanation has also been given for periods where little activity has been visible on site, with delays behind the scenes affecting progress. As a result, some dates may be subject to change.
The council says the overall aim of the scheme is to synchronise traffic lights through the town centre, allowing them to turn green at the same time and reduce current bottlenecks.
Details of the next stage of the project have not yet been confirmed, with discussions ongoing about how to proceed while limiting further disruption.
The update follows growing frustration from residents earlier this week, with concerns that delays could worsen as traffic increases when schools return.
The update follows earlier reports on Tuesday 7th April highlighting long delays in the town centre, as well as police action against drivers who ignored temporary traffic lights.
