Volunteers are being invited to roll up their sleeves and help give the iconic Cherhill White Horse its latest freshen-up which will be taking place in May.
Cherhill Parish Council has announced that re-chalking of the historic landmark will take place on Saturday 23rd May from 10am, weather permitting.

The much-loved white horse, which watches over Calne and Cherhill from the downs, is traditionally re-chalked every other year to keep it bright and clearly visible. In between, volunteers carry out weeding to maintain the striking hillside figure.
Anyone who would like to get involved is warmly invited to come along - whether to help carry chalk up the hill or simply offer support and encouragement on the day. Cherhill Parish Council are asking volunteers to bring gloves, sturdy footwear, a packed lunch and drinks.
The Cherhill horse was first cut in 1780 by Dr Christopher Alsop of Calne and is the third oldest white horse in Britain, with only the Uffington White Horse and the Westbury White Horse predating it.
Re-chalking days have become something of a community tradition over the years, bringing together residents of all ages to help care for one of the area’s most recognisable landmarks.
