A CALNE community group has expressed their gratitude to Priestley Primary School pupils, who chose the charity to be the recipients of their Harvest Festival donations.

Students at Priestley School, accrued an impressive haul of tinned goods and non-perishables as part of their annual Harvest Festival celebrations last week.

The children chose Heart of the Community in Calne to receive the donations and on Wednesday 16th October, interim head teacher Mr Coles, Ms Mitchard and pupils from Priestley School visited the group at Coleman's Farm with their collection.

Founding Trustee of Heart of the Community, Mary Wakeham expressed her gratitude for the school's generous donations: "We were overwhelmed by the amount and quality of the food donated.

"We will use the majority at the centre and ensure the items not used are donated to families who come to us and are in need."

Heart of the Community aims to reduce loneliness and isolation by providing a safe and warm space where people can meet, take part in crafts and activities and enjoy a hot meal every Monday. Wednesday and Friday. You can find more information here: https://www.heart-of-the-community.org/
