Kingsbury Green Academy (KGA) is celebrating a landmark moment in its academic history after achieving the highest GCSE progress scores ever recorded at the school.

This year’s achievement is particularly poignant for the current Year 11 cohort, whose education was heavily disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic. As Year 6 pupils in 2020, they missed SATs, leavers’ celebrations and the traditional transition into secondary school. Their first years at KGA were shaped by national lockdowns and remote learning, with progress measured through Cognitive Abilities Tests (CATs) rather than the usual benchmarks.

Despite these challenges, students have exceeded expectations. In a year when national GCSE standards returned to pre-pandemic levels, KGA pupils posted record-breaking progress scores across all abilities, setting a new benchmark for the academy.

Standout student results included:

  • Jonathan E, who achieved five grade 9s, a Distinction Star and other top grades.

  • Charlotte M, who earned two grade 9s, four grade 8s and four grade 7s.

  • Arthur S, who secured two grade 9s, two grade 8s and four grade 7s.

Headteacher Nicola Bull praised the students and the wider school community: “This year’s GCSE and vocational results are to be celebrated. To achieve the highest scores KGA has ever seen is a testament to the resilience, ambition and hard work of our students. These results reflect not only their academic excellence but also the strength of our school community—from the unwavering support of families to the tireless dedication of our staff. We are thrilled that so many students are choosing to continue their journey with us at KGA Sixth Form, where they will continue to thrive and ‘Achieve Excellence Together’.”

Many students are now set to continue their studies at KGA Sixth Form, following both A-Level and vocational pathways. The academy also reported strong outcomes in Post-16 qualifications last week, highlighting success across academic and technical routes.

The record-breaking results are a milestone for Kingsbury Green Academy and a powerful example of resilience and achievement, as students who began secondary school during the pandemic now move forward with confidence into their next chapter.
