Students at Kingsbury Green Academy stepped into the world of Macbeth this week, with some even taking part in the performance.
A touring group from Box Clever Theatre Company visited the school on Thursday 16th April, performing a condensed version of the play for Year 10 and Year 11 pupils.

The one-hour production, staged in the school hall, was followed by workshops encouraging students to explore the themes and language of the text they are currently studying in class.
Three students were chosen from the audience to join the actors during the performance, delivering lines in front of their peers, while the rest of the audience was drawn in through regular interaction.

The stripped-back staging meant the focus remained on the language and performances, giving students a clearer sense of how Shakespeare’s work can be interpreted beyond the page.
Amanda Jazrawy, the school’s Director of English, said bringing live performance into school helps make the text more accessible.
She said: “It really helps them to understand Macbeth – it truly lifts Shakespeare’s words off the page.
“It’s also valuable for drama students to see how much can be done with very little staging, just through performance and imagination.”
The visit formed part of the school’s English curriculum, supporting students as they prepare for exams.
