A Wiltshire paramedic has been crowned the new Commonwealth Bantamweight Boxing Champion after a commanding performance in the ring earlier this month.

Megan Redstall, who works for the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT), claimed the vacant Commonwealth title on Sunday 15th February at the Brentwood Centre in Essex. The 10-round contest saw her face a tough Kenyan opponent, but Redstall delivered what was described as a boxing masterclass, securing a unanimous points victory.

Alongside her frontline role as a paramedic, Redstall has been a professional boxer for the past 10 years. The Commonwealth bout marked her first major step up at championship level.

Balancing the demands of emergency response work with an intense training regime has required what colleagues describe as exceptional discipline and resilience - qualities that have clearly translated into sporting success.

Reflecting on her achievement, Redstall said: “Becoming Commonwealth Champion is a dream come true. I’ve worked towards this moment for years, juggling night shifts, long days on the road, and early mornings in the gym.

“My job as a paramedic means everything to me, as I have the privilege of helping people on some of the toughest days of their lives.

“Boxing gives me a different kind of purpose and challenge, but both roles are about heart, discipline and staying calm under pressure. I’m proud to represent my colleagues and show that with dedication, anything is possible.”

With the Commonwealth belt now secured, Redstall has her sights set on British and potentially world title challenges in the future.
