WILTSHIRE Police seized drugs, weapons and almost £48,000 in cash during a week-long crackdown on drug-related crime across Wiltshire as part of Operation Scorpion 15.
The operation, which ran from 22nd to 28th June, saw police forces across the South West work together to target drug dealing and criminality linked to pubs, clubs and the night-time economy.
In Wiltshire, officers carried out 10 drug warrants and 36 arrests , while disrupting 122 drug supply networks.
Police also seized more than 26kg of cannabis, almost 700g of cocaine, heroin, ketamine, MDMA tablets and crystal, amphetamines and two magic mushrooms.
A total of £47,705 in cash was recovered, along with eight weapons, including a firearm, an extendable baton and five samurai swords.
Throughout the week, officers focused on disrupting the supply and use of drugs within the night-time economy, with increased patrols in towns and cities across Wiltshire alongside targeted activity in pubs, clubs and other licensed premises.
Police also carried out safeguarding visits linked to suspected cuckooing, checks at licensed premises, drink and drug driving operations and education work with schools and town councils.
As well as enforcement, officers worked with partners including Change Grow Live, Connect, street pastors,
venue security staff and taxi marshals to help identify vulnerable people and offer support where needed.
Two vulnerable people were safeguarded during the week of action.
Chief Inspector Pete Foster said: "Now in its fifteenth phase, Operation Scorpion continues to demonstrate its strength as a well-established and highly effective initiative, focused on making the South West a hostile environment for drug dealers and those involved in associated criminality."
Across the South West, the operation resulted in 103 arrests, more than 5kg of Class A drugs and 24kg of cannabis being seized, along with £81,747 in cash.
