Police volunteers across Wiltshire contributed more than 900 hours supporting the force over the last year as Volunteers’ Week gets underway.
Wiltshire Police says its 72 Police Support Volunteers (PSVs) contributed 914 hours across 43 different events and activities during 2025/26.
Volunteers support a wide range of policing activities across the county, from role-play training exercises for student officers and Special Constables to community initiatives, public engagement events and specialist exercises.
They also support departments including Professional Standards, the Criminal Justice Unit and Citizens in Policing (CiP).
Police said volunteers also help operate Hotel Watch - a partnership scheme which works with hotels and accommodation providers to raise awareness of violence, abuse and criminal exploitation.
Assistant Chief Constable Deb Smith said volunteers play an important role within the force.
She said: “Volunteers bring richness and diversity to the Wiltshire policing family. All are giving something back to the public we serve and helping to keep them safe.
“Their roles are vital. They bring a wealth of valuable skills and experience, creating closer and more effective relationships with our county.”
Wiltshire Police said it is continuing to encourage more people to volunteer, particularly as Special Constables.
Applicants must be aged 18 or over, able to commit at least 16 hours each month and meet eligibility requirements including holding Level 2 English and maths qualifications.
The force said it would particularly like to hear from people interested in helping with training exercises, community initiatives and administrative roles.
Volunteers’ Week runs from Monday 1st June until Sunday 7th June and celebrates the contribution volunteers make across communities nationwide.
