Residents across Wiltshire are being encouraged to report areas with poor or non-existent mobile signal as part of a new effort to improve rural connectivity.

Wiltshire Council has launched Digital Wiltshire, an online portal designed to provide updates on the rollout of gigabit-capable broadband and wider improvements to digital infrastructure across the county.

The move has been welcomed by local MP Brian Mathew, who said improving broadband and mobile coverage remains a key issue for rural communities.

He said reliable internet access is now essential for everyday life, from working and studying to accessing public services, and that better connectivity is critical for homes and businesses alike.

As part of the new initiative, residents can complete a survey to report mobile “not spots” - locations where signal is weak or unavailable. The information gathered will help build a clearer picture of coverage gaps and support future improvements.

Wiltshire Council says the Digital Wiltshire portal will act as a central hub for information on broadband rollout, infrastructure projects and ways for communities to engage with connectivity plans.
