CALNE Parkrun celebrated the 75th birthday of the NHS on 9th July as 33 runners took to the field, many dressed in blue.
Many new faces attended the special Parkrun which takes place each week at the Rec in Calne. Runners took time out to applaud the NHS service before a warm up and run.
Event organisers said: "David, our run director that week mentioned the NHS 75th anniversary and we all applauded this valuable service. He then was able to give a warm welcome to first timers to Calne, we had a quite a few and we hope they enjoyed it enough to come back again.
"David also handed out a half marathon wristband to Theodore for completing 11 junior parkruns (all at Calne) which equal the half marathon distance. A very well done for reaching this milestone.
"The weather, stayed fine for us and Barbara, did a sterling job as tail walker entertaining Elliott (with creative props) who is just 4 years old and completed his very first parkrun this morning. All the children are amazing and we had a number of personal bests. Well done to Marley, Hector, Thomas, Harley, Callum, Lilah and Torrah.
"All our cheery regular and visiting volunteers, thank you so much, we need you and we appreciate you! If anyone would like to volunteer we will always welcome you."
Junior Parkrun is a FREE event held every Sunday at 9am at the Rec in Calne for 4 to 14-year olds. The focus is on keeping active while having fun. Children are given a time for their 2k run and can work to improve their times. Walking, skipping and hopping are all allowed - as well as running.
