On Saturday, the Calne Men's Shed (not just for men!) hosted an open afternoon, showcasing their facilities, projects and contributions to the community.

The event was a resounding success, attracting a diverse range of visitors, including local dignitaries and community leaders.

Among the guests were Calne Town Mayor Jon Fisher, MPs Sarah Gibson and Brian Mathew, and Councillors Glenis Ansell, Robert MacNaughton, Tim Havenith and Sam Pearce-Kearney. Reverend Caspar Bush, vicar of St Mary's Church also attended the event.

During the open afternoon, visitors had the opportunity to explore the Shed's facilities, including a newly opened internal technology pod. The pod is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment, such as a laser cutter, CNC machine, and 3-D printer. Mike, a Shed member, demonstrated the capabilities of the technology pod, showcasing the innovative projects that can be created.

Sarah Gibson MP commented: "It was brilliant to see the projects they're working on and hear how they're making a real difference in the community,"

The Calne Men's Shed is committed to supporting the local community, and its members are involved in various projects that benefit residents. The Shed is now embarking on a new initiative, working with the Alzheimer's community by hosting weekly sessions for individuals with the condition.

The Shed's doors are always open, and visitors are welcome to drop by, meet the members, and learn about their projects. As the Shed's motto goes, "The kettle is always on, and the biscuit tin is always open."
