The Calne Music and Arts Festival 2024 drew to a close on Sunday with the festival's 50th anniversary Finale Party.

The 10-day festival proved to be a real hit again this year with an eclectic mix of concerts and events celebrating the town's 50th year of creativity and community.

CMAF Chair, John Boaler commented: "This year has been one of the best ever. Most events were very well attended and several were sold out.

"For me the outstanding performance of the week was Wednesday evening’s ’Priestley Concert’ when our new patron, Brett Dean, joined the Isla Quartet in a programme of music from the 1770s (when Joseph Priestley was living in Calne) including Haydn and  Mozart.

"Both Gilbert & Sullivan’s ‘Patience’ and Flamenco Loco played to capacity audiences.

"Our Art Show attracted 270 entries and a record 45 works were sold. Many visitors commented on the overall quality of the show. On Family Day we welcomed over 500 people through the doors of Marden House.

"And on the first day of the Festival Week we held the hugely successful  ‘Pig Parade’ at the Town Hall."

Although the festival is over, you can still visit the exhibition '50 years of CMAF' which will remain at the Calne Heritage Centre throughout October alongside 50 of the pigs from the Pig Parade.
