The Sampaguita Cafe just off Church Street in Calne will be closing down in May this year, the owner has announced.

Business owner, Tess Ryan has run the cafe from the St Mary's Courtyard location for nearly 12 years but recently took to Facebook to share her decision to close the cafe.

Famed locally for her incredibly friendly welcome and a wide and varied menu offering great vegan and vegetarian options, there is no doubt many will miss the cafe when the doors close permanently in May.

Tess plans to continue outside catering work from her home, but will be taking some time for herself. In the meantime, all the fixtures and fittings will be up for sale after the closure or if anyone is interested on taking on the cafe, they can contact Tess directly.

In a social media post Tess said:

Dear everyone,
Just to inform you all, that after almost 12 years of having the cafe, ( I believe, I am the longest since I took over Patch of Blue) I have decided to leave and look for a new venture.
I would like to have more freedom that most business owners could not have.
Perhaps, walk my dog more.
The Sampaguita will be transferred to my home for outside catering and sometimes take-aways from June onwards.
The business contents, fixtures, fittings and anything inside of the cafe will be up for sale after our last serving.
If you or someone you know would like to enquire about taking over the cafe, please give me a call or come to the cafe to discuss and I will inform the landlord.
I would like to thank you, my lovely customers and hardworking current and previous staff for all your amazing help & support.
I can never do any of this without you.
I will post all my future plans on the Sampaguita Facebook page.
So please stay connected!
Phone number will be staying the same for enquiries regarding outside catering.
Our last day of serving will be on Saturday, 18th of May and we will have our farewell party with live music with food and drink.
We have until 31st of May to evacuate the place unless someone is taking over as an ongoing cafe
I hope to see you all before we shut the cafe.
I will definitely miss you all.
I am truly grateful for accepting and supporting us for the last 12 years.
Thank you all again
