A heartfelt initiative by local brothers and business partners Dan and Steve Jeary has blossomed into a remarkable Christmas fundraiser aimed at supporting disadvantaged families within the Calne community.

The duo, who own Valley View Fencing and Landscaping Ltd, began their mission just weeks ago by offering a £100 voucher to a nominated family in need, hoping to make the festive season a little brighter for them. Steve commented: "We wished to give something back to our community as they support us all year around."

What started as a simple act of kindness quickly gained momentum as other local businesses, work associates and family friends all reached out, eager to contribute. The response was overwhelming, leading Dan and Steve to expand their goal from helping one family to providing support for 45 families this Christmas.

Dan commented: "Every year we always try and give something back to our community, as a thank you from us all for supporting our local firm, so we decided to give a family a £100 shopping voucher for Christmas essentials.
"With the cost of living rising all the time, we wanted to make sure one family had everything they need from us."

As of now, their fundraising efforts have amassed over £5850 in donations meaning not only will 45 families have a happier Christmas but they have funds left over to donate to local charities. Dan added: “For me to give back to 45 families in the local community where my brother and I work will make my Christmas.

“I hate to think there are families out there who can't afford a turkey or some nice food and pop during this festive time.”

His sentiment reflects a growing concern for those struggling to make ends meet, especially during the holiday season. In addition to the vouchers, Dan and Steve have decided to donate any funds raised above their original target to local organisations, The Rise Trust and Calne Food Bank, further extending their commitment to support the community.

As Christmas approaches, the Jeary brothers' generous efforts exemplify the true spirit of giving, uniting local businesses and residents to ensure that everyone can experience the joy of the season. Their initiative serves as a beautiful reminder of the power of community and the importance of looking out for one another during difficult times.
