CALNE Town Council has said they have reached an agreement with the new owners of the former Co-Op site which will allow temporary parking on the Lower Pippin car park.
Calne News reported last week that the new owners of the site were Cedar Care Homes - a family owned business which specialises in providing active care to those that need it most. The owners say they are looking forward to providing that service to residents of Calne, who want to stay in the area but are not able to stay in their own homes.
During the sale of the site, fences were put around the Lower Pippin car park due to terms of the sale. However, Calne Town Council have worked with the new owners and an agreement has been reached to temporarily re-open the carpark from Saturday 14th September.
It is important to note that this is private land and opening for cars to park is meant to be a gesture of partnership and goodwill between the owners and at the request of the town council. This is a limited arrangement whilst plans are approved and to help those who volunteer or visit the town centre and need parking. It may also be used by residents from The Pippin without off street parking during this period.
- The car park is used entirely at own risk. Anyone who enters the area or parks a vehicle there, does so entirely at their own risk
- Cedar Care homes are not running a commercial car park and therefore is not accepting any liability for the damage or injury whilst on that land.
- This is a temporary solution – not a long-term provision.
- The site is only to be used by taxed and insured vehicles.
- Permission may be withdrawn if the car park is misused.
