A man has been charged with manslaughter after the death of a woman attending a slapping therapy workshop at Cleve House in Seend.

Danielle Carr-Gomm, 71, from East Sussex, died at Cleeve House in Seend, Wiltshire, on 20th October 2016. She had attended the slapping therapy workshop to help her diabetes.

The workshop involves 'paida lajin' therapy, which involves patients being slapped or slapping themselves repeatedly.

Hongchi Xiao, 60, of Cloudbreak in California, has now been charged with manslaughter by gross negligence, after being extradited back to the UK.

He is due to appear at Salisbury Magistrates' Court today (1/12).

Police say a warrant for Mr Xiao's arrest was issued in October 2019. He was arrested after returning to the United Kingdom from Australia on an extradition warrant and was taken to Gablecross custody in Swindon where he was charged.

We will update this article following today's court hearing.
